In an angioplasty, damaged arteries are accessed via a tube inserted into the patient’s arm or leg. Blocked arteries are identified using an X-ray screen and are opened up by inserting thin tubes known as catheters.

During The Procedure
Patients are mildly sedated through an IV, once sedated the surgeon will insert the catheter and feed it through the artery until it reaches the narrowed area and clears the blockage. A stent, can also be incorporated to help keep the vessel open.
After The Procedure
At your doctor’s discretion, you may generally return to normal activities within a few days.
