Rethink Varicose Veins National Campaign Kicks Off
A national campaign promoting varicose vein awareness titled “Rethink Varicose Veins,” kicked off this week featuring Olympic Gold Medalist Summer Sanders and her personal experience suffering with venous insufficiency disease and the improvement she experienced following a minimally invasive vein treatment.
Hamilton Vein Center – Houston’s leading and fastest-growing vein center — is proud to support this national educational effort. Interventional radiologist and vein specialist Dr. Carlos R. Hamilton III and his team are great advocates of vein awareness and education. “Each day we see and treat people who have suffered far too long with varicose veins or other related conditions – mainly because they were unaware that these conditions are very treatable and that vein treatments have come such a long way from the days of vein stripping,” says Hamilton. Today’s vein treatments utilize the most advanced, minimally invasive technologies for a gentle, fast-acting and virtually pain-free experience. The advancements in treatment began in the interventional radiology medicine field, which specializes in minimally invasive procedures, which are now widely accepted and used for the treatment of varicose veins and other vein-related conditions.
The awareness campaign, sponsored by the American College of Phlebology, the Society for Vascular Surgery, and the American Venous Forum, is an education campaign designed to encourage the over 30 million people suffering with venous insufficiency and varicose veins to RETHINK the condition and recognize that it is a medical condition and not a cosmetic issue. The campaign also encourages sufferers to learn more and visit a local vein specialist. To find out more and to hear Summer share her personal story, visit www.rethinkvaricoseveins.com. “Summer Sanders is an ideal spokesperson for this campaign. The fact that she is a professional athlete and mother with a busy lifestyle reiterates that vein disease does not discriminate and affects anyone who has it,” notes Hamilton. The good news is – varicose veins are very treatable – no matter what stage or condition.
