Small Nick of the Skin = Big Vein Pain Relief

Most everyone has heard the term “vein stripping,” the old school way of “treating” varicose veins that requires large incisions be made to physically strip and remove the diseased vein from the body. Talk about invasive.
Thankfully, technologies developed in the interventional radiology field have taken vein treatments from painful, very invasive procedures with long recoveries, high recurrence rates and complications to highly targeted, incredibly effective treatments with fast recovery rates, little to no downtime and immediate relief – all through the nick of the skin about the size of a grain of rice. 3/8 of an inch to put a number on it.

Thank you, interventional radiology!
Interventional radiologists are minimally invasive specialists.
Vein disease is best detected using Doppler ultrasound, and it’s best treated with image-guided vein treatments, such as Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA). Unlike many doctors and healthcare providers who offer vein treatment services, every Hamilton Vein Center vein specialist is highly skilled and has received specialized training in diagnostic ultrasound and today’s image-guided vein treatments. Diagnosing and treating vein disease is all we do. We are the vein experts.
So just how minimally invasive is the typical Hamilton Vein Center vein treatment?
After prepping the insertion area with local anesthetic, a Hamilton Vein Center vein specialist uses image-guided ultrasound to position the Closure catheter into the diseased vein through a small opening in the skin. The vein is then numbed thoroughly before delivering radiofrequency (RF) energy through the catheter. The heat causes the vein walls to grow together and eventually become scar tissue, which will then be reabsorbed by the body.
The minimally invasive technologies to diagnose and treat vein disease are always evolving. This is tremendous news for the millions of Americans who suffer with vein disease. Non-invasive procedures are being developed and you can count on us to be the first to embrace any new treatment that will safely and effectively and painlessly end vein pain, discomfort and embarrassment.
